Tigers’ nine-game win streak ends1 min read

The Tigers nine-game win streak came to an end on Wednesday, May 23.

Plagued with errors, the Tigers lost to the Braves of the Verde Valley Little League 14-4 at Posse Grounds Park.

“We did not play well. Errors plagued us throughout the entire game and we made a couple of crucial base running mistakes,” Tigers Head Coach Mark Seda said. “We did not hit the ball consistently but when we did, we would make some sort of mental error.”

After coming off a strong 14-11 win from two days earlier, the Tigers were in rare form as they usually take control of the game.

Bradley Howard started the game on the mound and the bases were loaded from two walks and a hit. Anthony Godina of the Braves bunted the ball which turned into a great play by catcher Angel Betancourt who tagged a runner out at home. However, the Braves scored three runs on the next hit and one more after on a wild pitch.

Both Howard and Cameron Machek were walked, but a caught fly and a double play prevented any runs.

Howard struck out three of the next six batters, but the Braves scored three more runs, including a two-run homer.

The Braves essentially shut down the Tigers’ offense, cutting off their base runners and catching their fly balls.
