In order to keep skills in top shape and be a threat on the field during the regular season, it is essential for players to compete during the summer.

That’s what the girls of the Sedona Red Rock High School soccer team are doing.

The players are involved in a summer league set up by the Verde Valley Soccer Club that keeps them active and in shape over the summer.

Five teams play each other in weekly scrimmages every Thursday or Friday. Sedona, Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Chino Valley and Payson each have a team.

While not officially affiliated with the high schools, the teams use the league as a way to prepare the girls for the season.
