John D. Gardner, 91, of the Village of Oak Creek, died Oct. 6.

A Navy pilot and flight instructor in World War II, he was active in the Sedona United Methodist Church and the adult community center, served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Verde Valley Caregivers, and was a member of the Sedona Camera Club as a photographer and amateur astronomer.

He is survived by his two daughters, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Sedona Methodist Church on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the church.

Andrew Pardiac

A 2008 graduate of Michigan State University, Andrew Pardiac was a Larson Newspapers' copy editor and reporter from October 2013 to October 2017. After moving to Michigan, then California, Pardiac was managing editor of Sonoma West Publishers' four newspapers in Napa and Sonoma valleys until November 2019.
