For second-year Sedona Red Rock High School Spanish teacher Samantha Petree, recognition has its rewards.

The Northern Arizona representative for the Arizona Language Association, Petree was named the 2013 Outstanding Young Foreign Language Educator at an ALA awards luncheon in Phoenix on Oct. 5.

“She might be a new teacher, but she’s knowledgeable, great with kids, differentiates instruction and is passionate about teaching,” SRRHS principal Darrin Karuzas said. “She’s hugely deserving.”
