Despite missing seven swimmers due to either illness or the holiday weekend, the Sedona Red Rock High School swim team finished fourth among seven teams in both the boys and girls divisions at the Heisley Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Cottonwood Recreation Center’s outdoor pool.
Mingus won the girls team competition, while Bradshaw Mountain won the boys team competition.
Scorpions senior Laura Clark won the girls 100-yard butterfly event with a personal record time of 1 minute, 9.55 seconds, just one second off the provisional state-qualifying time for the event.
“I was really happy when I hit it,” Clark said. “I’ll most likely hit the state-qualifying time next meet.”
Clark also placed third in the 200-yard individual medley with a provisional state-qualifying time of 2:35.54, and was a member of the third-place girls 200-yard medley relay team.
