Last month’s 12th annual Sedona Metric Centuries Tour raised money for local teachers and also raised the hopes of its sponsors for greater participation and proceeds next year.
The 125 bicycle enthusiasts who competed in this year’s tour on Oct. 5 helped raise more than $2,000 for Big Park Community School and its Parent Teacher Student Association.
Steve McClain, a bike shop owner and sponsor, is confident that those numbers can go higher next year.
“I think this community has the ability to get into the 400 to 500 [participant] range,” he said. “I think that is an attainable goal.”
