The Big Park Coyotes boys basketball team got its season off to a rousing start on Thursday, Nov. 14, with a 124-17 victory over Oak Creek Elementary School at Big Park Community School.
Wyatt Gregson led the Coyotes with 46 points while teammate Hayden Bruce had 20 and Chase Saczalski had 14.
Also scoring for the Coyotes were Tony Van Dezor, 9 points; Nathan Hoyer, 9 points; Winston Cox, 8 points; Branaghan Cunningham, 8 points; Hunter Wright, 7 points; Charlie Parrella, 4 points; and Cole Mace, 1 point.
Despite the score, Coyotes head coach Amy Parrella said she definitely sees room for improvement in her team.
“Our passes were off tonight, but our rebounding was great, and we’ve been shooting a lot in practice so I expect us to get better every game on that,” she said. In order to keep the scoring down, Parrella had her team shoot nothing but three-point shots starting in the third quarter.
Although the Coyotes didn’t shoot for a high percentage from that distance, they did make a few.
“I’m a little disappointed in those percentages,” she said. “But we do actually practice those, and it was the first game so they were nervous.” For the full story, please see the Wednesday, Nov. 20, issue of the Sedona Red Rock News.
