For more than 40 years and counting, American students have known nothing but threats to cut music education in their schools.
Local private music instructor Annette Foldes is doing her part to change that, thanks to her half-hour program, “Music Everywhere!”
Performed once a week to each of the first- through third-grade and fourth- through sixth-grade classes at Sedona Charter School, “Music Everywhere!” shares Foldes’ three decades of knowledge of musical instruments as well as the history behind the music.
“I really do believe that music is everywhere,” she said. “We just have to find it and seek it out.”
Half-hour sessions start with her helping the students to vocalize and find their pitch, using the do-re-mi scale to help train their ears to find their tonal center through their individual voice.
