Lynn Toneri wins people’s choice award1 min read

Lynn Toneri paints an Appalachian horse as a commissioned piece of art on Saturday, Jan. 4, in her home in West Sedona. Toneri only paints from her own reference materials and always has her camera with her. Her paintings are always about her adventures and she said she does not paint anything she has not experienced personally.

The Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition held its fall show, “Shadows … A Mystery In Art” in November. During the show, several awards were up for grabs for the gallery’s finest artists. Lynn Toneri was the recipient of the People’s Choice award.

Toneri is originally from the San Fransico Bay Area and has had a talent for art since high school, where she was selected as the class’ outstanding artist.

“I was awarded for that,” Toneri said. “When I told my mom I was going to be a beautician, she said ‘To hell with that, you’re going to art school.’ So it was my mother’s encouragement that got me there.”
