A new gallery space is opening in Sedona, as local sculptor John Soderberg has come to an agreement with property owner John D. Miller to move into one of the vacant spaces at the Old Marketplace in West Sedona.

The space will serve as a gallery as well as a studio for Soderberg, whose statue “Merlin” sits several yards away in the parking lot of the shopping center.

“My vision is for an interesting, exciting, happening space, not just another gallery,” he said. “So I’m going to be sculpting over here, it’s going to be my studio. I’ll be working on clay or whatever. And then there’s a gallery and a classroom space for fundraisers, unveiling parties, yoga, whatever comes along, really.”
