Scorpions’ playoff hopes fade1 min read

With eight games remaining in an already shortened schedule, the Sedona Red Rock High School baseball team could not afford a loss to a sectional rival trailing it in the standings, much less at home.

All of that happened Friday afternoon, April 11, and to Camp Verde High School.

“Overall, we just were flat,” Sedona Red Rock High School head coach Craig Eagle. “It should’ve been a different outcome, but we came in expecting a win, and it got us.”

The Scorpions [4-6] fell to No. 35 in Division III and 3-3 in Section IV after allowing two seventh-inning runs in a
6-5 loss to the young Cowboys.

“We came in with the goal of not striking out, and we faced a pitcher that pretty much dominated us,” Eagle said. “Their pitcher struck out lot of our guys, even though he was pretty much the same kind of thrower that Williams had, only about 15 mph slower.”
