West Sedona School and Big Park Community School hope that this weekend, diamonds will be their teams’ best friends.

Beginning Friday, April 25, at 2:30 p.m. at Clarkdale Jerome School, head baseball coach Matt Schumacher and his Big Park Community School Coyotes look to win the Verde Valley Conference Tournament title by defeating Beaver Creek School and unbeaten top seed Camp Verde Middle School on their way to the championship game Saturday, April 26.

In the second game at 4:30 p.m. April 25, head baseball coach Pedro Ortega Sr. and his West Sedona School Wildcats have the chance to advance directly to the conference tournament championship game with a win, but they have to get past host Clarkdale- Jerome School.

The Coyotes, 4-6 in conference and a No. 4 seed to open the conference tournament, look to erase that disappointing finish with a strong showing behind ace eighth-grader Julian Travaglia. Just don’t expect to see him until the second day of the tournament.
