They came close, but the baseball and softball teams at Sedona Red Rock High School will both be staying home in May instead of joining 46 other Division III teams on the road to the state championships.
SRRHS celebrated Senior Day in a big way, conquering Coronado High School, 23-0, in a four-inning run-ruled game April 30 that was perhaps not even as lopsided as first-year head coach Mike Keider expected.
“We expected to beat them, and beat them badly,” Keider said. “It was funny, because the girls, I think, were preoccupied with Senior Night. The first inning, our batters went one-two-three, and that was it. I was, like, ‘What are you girls doing?’”
