Senior Gabrielle Simon will be the top seed in girls discus, joining 19 of her Sedona Red Rock High School teammates in competing for the Division III state track and field championships beginning Friday, May 9, at 3 p.m.

“Eight of our kids have been to the state meet before; 12 have not,” head coach Harry Schneider said. “Having so many kids qualify is great.”

Schneider hopes that every one of them can score points with a top eight finish to challenge for the state title at Mesa Community College, as both teams did last year – the boys finishing fourth overall and the girls runners-up to two-time champ Mingus Union High School by 21 points.
