The former coach of youth football in Sedona is getting his shot with the Scorpions.

Ken Selle, the head coach of the Red Rock Youth Football program for two years after a successful two decades as head coach of one of the midwest’s most storied youth football systems, was hired as head football coach of Sedona Red Rock High School on May 6.

“I’ve been working with them the last two years; I know most of the kids,” Selle said. “I thought it would be an interesting challenge to take over this program.”

Selle replaces SRRHS math and physical education teacher Rick Walsworth, who will be returning to Mingus Union High School to resume his duties as offensive coordinator for the Marauders varsity — the position he held prior to his 2010 hire at SRRHS, where he went 18-24 with a playoff appearance in four seasons.
