On Friday, May 16, the Sedona Elks Lodge, located off Airport Road hosted a dinner with music to benefit the Elks Veterans Program as well as local Meals On Wheels efforts. The cost of the meal was $10.

The dinner was made by volunteers led by chef, Elks member and retired Army Airborne Ranger Rick Kimberly, who served for 22 years in various functions.

“We just sat down and decided to honor the vets and we wanted to include the Meals on Wheels program because we’ve been doing that for a while,” Kimberly said of organizing the event.

Kimberly said that the Meals on Wheels program helps seniors stay in their homes, which, according to Kimberly, has statistically proven to lengthen seniors’ lives.

“The longer they’re at home, the more they prosper,” Kimberly said.
