For more than a quarter-century, the club swim teams in Sedona and Cottonwood have done battle at the Sedona Community Pool in the Sedona Splash.
The rivalry renews Saturday, June 21, at 9 a.m., with two Flagstaff club swim teams joining the mix for the 26th annual two-day meet.
“My goal is a personal best out of everyone this meet,” said Swordfish head coach A. Jay Bronson. “All the kids have been doing amazing this summer, and have really been working their tails off. This meet will be a good gauge as to how we are doing as coaches and the swimmers are doing in their training.”
With Lumberjack Aquatics and the Flagstaff Snowsharks also competing at the Splash, Bronson is not as concerned about team finish against the Clippers, who will be sending more than 75 swimmers to the event compared to the 25 the Swordfish can enter — with at least six Clippers planning on swimming in the maximum eight events allowed, according to assistant coach Monica Soliz.
