For the first time in the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department’s Softball League this summer, Red Rock Rotary stumbled, tying Los Illegals, 3-3, Thursday, June 19.
By virtue of A Day in the West’s 20-5 run-ruling of the Slammers in four innings, the tie dropped Rotary into second place, just a half-game ahead of Los Illegals and Rokzoo Bucket List, which swept the Boynton Base Invaders and the Mighty Ducks of L’Auberge de Sedona, 12-10 and 14-3, at Posse Grounds Park.
“I don’t know how they’re going to handle it,” Los Illegals head coach Mauro Trahin Sr. said. “It was called after 55 minutes. We should’ve played another inning — we had a runner on second with two outs.”
“I believe that a game is ruled a tie if there is less than 10 minutes left on the clock and the scores are the same,” Rotary head coach Nick Hastings said. “It was a really good, competitive, fun game for both sides. Los Illegals is a solid team.”
