Ten-year-old Aiden Beck won seven events in his first competitive meet, starting a wave that he and his 21 Sedona Swordfish teammates rode to personal records and second place at the Sedona Splash.

“Aiden being brand new to swimming was just a delight to watch,” Swordfish head coach A. Jay Bronson said. “He won his age group and became high point champion, which was so great to see. His hard work and dedication paid off.”

Beck swept the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke and butterfly competitions over all competitors from the Cottonwood Clippers and two Flagstaff Swim Clubs — the Snowsharks and Lumberjack Aquatics — to propel the 22-swimmer Swordfish team Saturday through Sunday, June 21 through 22, at the Sedona Community Pool.

“Every single athlete had a personal best time this weekend,” Bronson said. “That’s 22 swimmers that had a personal best. It was great.”

Andrew Tate, 11, won 10 events to capture the high-points trophy for the 11- and 12-year-old age group at the meet.

“In every age group that we had an athlete, we obtained a high point award,” Bronson said. “That is phenomenal. Extremely proud of the swimmers and how great they swam.”
