Following their fifth straight loss Thursday, June 26, to open their fourth season in the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department’s Adult Softball League, June 26, it appeared as if the Mighty Ducks of L’Auberge de Sedona might never live up to their adjective.
“We lost the early game just barely,” said catcher Megan Rudolph of the 9-7 loss to the Boynton Base Invaders, a game in which the Mighty Ducks came back to retake the lead twice only to lose it in the last at-bat. “It just kind of kept going back and forth — they were ahead, we were ahead, but they had the last couple hits.”
Then they moved to the upper softball field at Posse Grounds Park to take on The Slammers in a late game — and everything clicked in a 11-2 win.
“It was great,” said Rudolph, who coordinates events at L’Auberge with head coach Kara Cristman, a catering sales manager, when she is not holding down the hot corner at third base. “It really was one of those games where everyone just kind of clicked, you know?”
