Let the postseason begin — finally.

After three weeks of postponement or outright cancellation of games, three forfeits, one tie and one tiebreaker, the Sedona Parks and Recreation department will begin the Adult Softball League championship tournament Thursday, Sept. 4, at 6:15 p.m. at Posse Grounds Park.

While a 14-9 win Thursday, Aug. 28, over Rokzoo Bucket List cemented the status of undefeated A Day in the West as the clear regular-season league champion, the rest of the tournament seedings were not so clear after a no-show by the Boynton Base Invaders forfeited their game to Red Rocks Rotary, 7-0.

The same score was assigned to both games of The Slammers’ doubleheader after only four players from that team showed up. A minimum of seven players are necessary for a team not to forfeit an Adult Softball League game.

“My biggest worry is not having enough players,” A Day in the West head coach Pedro Ortega Sr. said. “The last game, we ended up with nine, and I got my ninth player towards the end of the first inning. We didn’t score until the second.”
