You may have seen, on the news, the flooding in Phoenix, which was a record for history, and flooding in Lake Havasu, Arizona, and even around Las Vegas.

My boyfriend loves weather and of course, saw it coming from the forecasts he watches. In fact it was showing that the heavy rain was from two, count them, two severe systems, bringing extreme flooding and was also headed straight for our Sedona.

Each day and each night even the weather channel showed why we should expect it to begin in Sedona within three hours; within the hour even… imminent thunderstorms, lightning and flooding right here. However, we got nothing, really. 

I have lived in several locations throughout Florida over many years and expected Hurricane Andrew in my home in the middle of the night, way back then. It swerved while we were sleeping, and we only got a small tree branch or two in front of home. I knew about storm preparedness every year in Florida, from June through, and including, November. Scary to hear severe storms surrounding you so closely.

A day or two before the severe Sedona forecasts began we had rain and it woke us up when lightning sounded close to our large bedroom window. When the crack of lightning sounded like it was just 5 feet from us, maybe right outside the window, I reverted to Florida protection mode and said I wanted to wait it out in the bathroom in the center of the home, which had no windows. That’s what you do…

Of course a weather lover would laugh and it settled me down, as I nestled to my ‘protector.’

We never got the deluge constantly reported day after day, after that. In fact we hardly got any rain at all, and we partly summized and said in awe, Sedona is protected. Even the fires we had months ago never touched our town, either. Very little hazard or inconvenience.

Weather may seem like that in your emotional life. That person who seems to bring the hairs up on your arms, say or do things that may ignite fear and thoughts of impending doom of some sort, is not the problem that needs the solution, so much as the perceived threat giving you the opportunity to remember you are both sacred and protected. Relax and breathe.

Perhaps wait, hold your tongue, consider what is being said or done, and diffuse the tempest with your knowing you have the power to, simply by not raising your own temperature.

Water in spirit, represents emotions. What we do with emotions determines if we flood ourselves with tears and sad times or express tears of joy, embrace deeper understanding of others, take responsibility for creating the type of emotional weather we contribute to, and bring others close to or hearts, versus spouting in spiraling fury.

Is the outer experience in our lives a reflection of inner conscious energy?  It becomes the collective and will show like a mirror, how we, as people, are ‘doing.’

What’s the weather like in all areas of your days and nights? Try playing God and control the weather. Look at that. You are the creator, after all.

There are many ways to remember the sacredness of all types of weather. Is it asking you to take inventory? Do you also give thanks to other creators who bring you sunshine, rainbows and blue skies?
