Football fans don’t get much more die-hard than Dick Levy.
From the first varsity football game at Sedona Red Rock High School and half of the road games, Levy, who will be honored at halftime of the Scorpions’ game Friday, Sept. 26, against Camp Verde High School, has been there — home stands, middle bleachers, fourth row up, on the aisle.
“I can’t believe it, going back that far,” he said. “Eighteen years.”
His seat is the only one in John Ordean Memorial Stadium reserved for anybody. By the end of this fall, the 95-year-old, Sedona’s “No. 1 Fan,” as he is dubbed on the marker reserving his seat, will have occupied it for 95 straight games.
“You might even indicate that I kept coming to games, hoping for a win,” Levy joked. “I don’t know what I’m going to do next year. I don’t know anyone that well who could get me to the games.”
