Whether it was an act of kindness or an act of God, or both, it was certainly merciful that the Sedona Red Rock High School scoreboard wasn’t working for the Scorpions’ game against visiting Greyhills Academy Friday, Oct. 10.

“Ostensibly, every possession, we scored on,” said Ken Selle, Sedona Red Rock High School head coach. “Our offensive series were one and done. Basically, everything I wanted to have happen, happened.”

As expected, the Fightin’ Knights, who dressed only 17 players, were profoundly overmatched.

“They probably don’t belong in this division,” Selle said. “They’re a little overmatched.”

SRRHS was ahead 41-0 by halftime. Officials let the game clock run throughout the second half as Scorpion reserves added two more touchdowns to make the final score 55-0. Greyhills [1-6] didn’t cross midfield until late.
