Carnival raises funds for school1 min read

It’s probably the only place where people can have fun in jail.

West Sedona School is getting ready for its largest fundraiser of the year, the annual Wildcat Carnival, which will be held at the school campus on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is geared to be fun for all ages.

“We’re going to have lots of games and prizes,” said Teresa Lamparter, Parent-Teacher Organization president and secretary at the school.

Events for the kids include a rock climbing wall, bungee jumping and bounce houses as well as a haunted school bus.

The school bus will be decked out in spooky gear and turned into a walk-through fright show.

Forget getting put into detention, at the carnival, students can put their teachers in jail.

Patrons can purchase tickets for the rides that can also be used to place a teacher in jail.

Principal Scott Keller will be the sheriff, and will take the tickets to arrest teachers and friends.

“Whoever is in jail has to beg somebody to throw a penny into a jar to get them out,” Lamparter said. “It’s really cute.”
