Historic Dr. Williamson House may become B&B1 min read

The city of Sedona is considering a zone change for a historic home so it can operate a bed and breakfast.

It’s been simply known as the Dr. Williamson House for years and is even listed as a Sedona historic landmark. But soon, it may have another distinction.

Debra Beck, the owner of the home, has submitted an application to use the house, located on Smith Road in Uptown, as a bed and breakfast. This use is supported by the Sedona Community Plan as an incentive to preserve historic landmarks and took the first step to becoming a reality during the Tuesday, Oct. 21, Sedona Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

A city document states that the property is currently zoned as single-family high density. Though the Sedona Community Plan supports use of historic landmarks as bed and breakfasts, the zoning of the property does not currently allow for use as a bed and breakfast. In order to facilitate the use of one in this historic house, the property owner has submitted a request for a minor Community Plan amendment.

Eventually, the Planning and Zoning Commission will take action on the matter and make a recommendation to City Council.
