While West Sedona School was quickly swept out of its home volleyball tournament, Big Park Community School held out championship hopes until they were dashed in the Verde Valley Conference title game Saturday, Oct. 25.

The Coyotes [12-5] were extended to three games in both their first round and semifinal matches but could not do the same to undefeated top seed Clarkdale-Jerome School, falling 25-20, 25-15 in the championship.

“A disappointing end, because we easily should’ve taken these guys to three games,” Coyotes head coach Shelley Woellmer said after the loss to the Mingus Rams. “They showed a lot of tenacity, a lot of strength. We just had some bad breaks.”
