Sedona Red Rock High School will be searching for its third head football coach in a year after the resignation of Ken Selle, effective Nov. 26.
“I thought I was going to be permanently retired, but this highly-regarded credit manager out of Chicago wanted somebody to be their head trader,” Selle said. “It came together very quickly. It was a difficult decision, from the standpoint that I’ve put a lot of time and effort into this program — you’d like to be committed for longer than a year — but it’s the right move for me, for my family.”
Selle said he and his wife, the owner of a local chocolate business, would not be giving up their home in Sedona. He plans to retire to Sedona permanently after 12 to 14 months in the Chicago job, he said.
“I’ll forget about the scores, but I’ll never forget the kids,” he said. “If they come up to you 10 years later and refer to you as “coach,” that’s when you know you meant something.”
Selle led the Scorpions to a 6-4 overall record and a No. 22 ranking in Division IV during his tenure.
