Residents crowded Sedona Public Library’s Quiet Room on Friday, Jan. 9, to hear details of an effort to recall Sedona-Oak Creek School District Governing Board President Zachary Richardson.
“Zach, as a representative of our school district, has many times just succeeded in intimidating teachers, district members and parents,” said Corin Athenour, an organizer of the effort.
She and Eric Mendelsohn provided petitions and clipboards for anyone interested in helping to gather the minimum 1,190 signatures needed to force a recall election.
Mendelsohn clarified that only signatures of registered voters in the SOCSD would be valid, and cautioned everyone to make sure that any information gathered on the form was legible and notarized.
“Hopefully we will have this completed by March 15,” according to a handout. “After signatures are collected with all county procedures to be done, the election will not be held until November at the earliest.”
