The Sedona Red Rock High School boys basketball team continues to win with offense and with defense.
After scoring 51 and 70 points, respectively, in their two wins at the Phoenix Christian High School Christmas Tournament, the Scorpions held the Titans of Chandler Preparatory Academy to 47 points in a 12-point road win Tuesday, Jan. 6.
“I didn’t know what to expect in that arena, but we actually played pretty well,” said C.J. Sells, Scorpions head coach. “I don’t think we’ve lost to anybody we should’ve beat. We’re happy with where we’re at.”
In the opening game of the tournament Dec. 29, SRRHS [9-6] downed Tempe Prep, 51-45. Although a low-scoring second quarter doomed the Scorpions in their next game, a 58-50 loss to Veritas Prep, they ended the tournament on a high — and high-scoring — note, handling North Pointe Prep, 70-61, on Dec. 31.
