Although head coach A. Jay Bronson and his Sedona Swim Team finished in the lower tier overall at both of their January meets, he is just happy to see so many Swordfish swimming hard in winter water.
“The experience has been great,” he said before practice Friday, Feb. 6, at the Sedona Community Pool the week prior to the Lost Dutchman Invitational over Presidents’ Day weekend. “The kids love it and the community pool is great.”
Of the Swordfish’s 15 swimmers, 12 of them are expected to travel to the Chandler meet Friday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m. That same number have already recorded new personal best times, or PRs — with Bronson “shooting for all of them by the end of the season,” he said.
Ten Swordfish have participated in the Sedona Swim Team’s three winter meets, including two new additions from Mingus Union High School — star boys swimmers Gunner Tillemans and Sean Williams, who in their debut helped lead the Swordfish to fifth place Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Scottsdale Aquatic Center Winter Invitational.
