If you love the city you live in the same way you love a family member or friend, it will be a much better place.
That was the message of speaker Peter Kageyama, who stressed that residents can do little things in order to have big results in their communities. He shared his message with about 200 people on Thursday, March 19, at the Sedona Performing Arts Center during a talk titled “For the Love of Sedona.” The following day he hosted a four-hour workshop with Sedona residents.
Kageyama, author of “For the Love of Cities: The Love Affair Between People and Their Places” and “Love Where You Live: Creating Emotionally Engaging Places,” is a community and economic development consultant and grassroots engagement strategist. He looks at what makes cities lovable and what motivates residents to do things within their community.
“When we love something, we go above and beyond,” he told the audience. “It’s not just enough to say you love something.”
