Most teams in the Sedona Parks and Recreation department’s summer Adult Softball League have been at one end or another of blowouts aplenty their first two weeks.

Not so for Red Rocks Rotary, undefeated and tied for the league lead with Big O Tires after a one-run nailbiter Thursday, June 11. The 3-2 victory over the Mighty Ducks of L’Auberge de Sedona was Rotary’s second of the season.

“We had them down, 3-0, going into the bottom of the seventh,” said Nick Hastings, Rotary head coach. “They came back, scoring two runs and almost a third, but we held them off to win the game.”

This came after Mike Tabback’s walk-off double scored Hastings to open the schedule with another 3-2 squeaker — this one over Rokzoo Bucket List, which dealt the Sedona Red Rock News its third straight loss, 13-0, June 11.

On the heels of Rotary is Tortas de Fuego, undefeated through two games after handling A Day in the West, 13-5.

The Mighty Ducks can take the defending league champions down a peg and break a three-team logjam in the middle of the league standings with a win Thursday, June 18, at 7:30 p.m.
