Monday, June 20 much happened, and the taste is long lasting. So many ingredients; it’s a soup we’ve never tasted and here’s a sample.
The first ingredient we start with was the full moon. Did you see it as it was reaching capacity; looking decidedly raspberry in color? In Europe it used to be called the Full Rose Moon.
The Raspberry Full Moon was a signal to the Algonquin tribe that it was time to gather ripening fruit. What have you planted and will it be sour or delicious? You are the gardener of your life; has it been delicious?
The Moon was actually at its fullest on Monday the 20th, at 4:02 am pacific time. She was located at the tippy tippy end of the zodiac piece of the pie in the sky that we call Sagittarius. Less than an hour later, our moon was shining in the next piece of the pie, Capricorn. Did you realize that it was our second full moon in Sagittarius, another unusual event! Two chances to ‘get it right!’
Full Moon in Sag brings emotions fully about Sag traits and full moons are not only the culmination of what we have sown, but time for our letting go of, in this case, Sag traits, that no longer serve us.
Sagittarius: enlarging things, looking to the future, optimism, the philosophies of spiritual masters, man-made religions, flight, freedom, foreign countries and people, long-distance travel, teachers, higher education, generosity, laughter and the like. If there might be some qualities to let go of, perhaps over-optimism, enlarging (making too much of) our challenging qualities, or radical religious fervor. Release, release, release.
Then, as many of you know, we had our summer solstice about 11 hours after the full moon, at 3:34 pm pacific. Do you know how the moment of the solstice is known? It is the moment that the Sun goes into the piece of the zodiac pie we know as Cancer.
Full Moons effect us for about one month; and the solstice three months. A true turning point, and this one was under the effects of moon’s full light and full emotions, so a time of reaping and a time of new planting, at nearly the same time.
We’ve looked at Sagittarius characteristics; now let’s look at Cancer. Cancer is about our emotional temperature, and our past; past life unresolved emotional experiences that show up in our young years and continue to effect us today, if not resolved, our childhood memories, our mother, the feminine part of us, nurturing, the way to the heart through the stomach/feeding others, our home, security, and our country.
Family. In today’s world, we find that our homes and families are often away from our childhood home and birth family, so that we might have adopted a new home land, and are drawn to those that feel like family.
Yet childhood family ties run deep and effect us, so any wounds deserve a healing, and lest we not forget the world is our family on our one and only shared home, so ditto on the non-judgmental, unconditional loving necessary.
The more we resent and point at anyone in our global family, the bigger the wounds. Please open to a bigger picture that when people show us actions we deem unloving, or unforgiveable, they are showing us their unhealed wounds.
It takes a village to mother and nurture us all back to loving emotional health. God leaves no one out, but we forgot that we are all made of God, and unwilling to find our way home. Home is love.
As every summer solstice occurs in Cancer, we look to see where the Moon was during the moment of solstice conception. Remember a Full Moon was shining fully and brightly in Sag earlier in the day, but hours later, at solstice birth, it was in Capricorn.
Within the zodiac, Cancer and Cap are at opposite ends and require assimilation, agreement to work together. Capricorn is about career and responsibility, practicality and hard work, maturity, age and wisdom, growing up.
They represent at one end, the womb of loving Cancer mother who wants to nurture and protect every child, and at the other end perhaps the non-emotional practical father, who wants to teach how to work hard so that we feel like we earned the reward of our lessons well done.
The Sun of course, as well as Mercury the communication guru, and Venus the goddess of love, are also in Cancer for weeks now, so the focus is all about the feminine emotional side of us, and we may be filled with feelings that need to be sorted out.
With the Full Moon under our arm, dispensing the feelings of what we have reaped within ourselves, be careful not to howl at the moon or those in your life. Sagittarius asks us to see the bigger philosophical overview, seek the higher wisdom of truth as your religious icons have tried to teach, without creating separation because of varying religions.
Cancer reminds us we are one big family and our home land is the only one we have. Share it with respect, and focus on your home life, redecorate, cook up a storm, make a new photo album of fond memories and nurture someone emotionally injured but protect your own heart, and be practical in making them do the work so they can feel self pride.
