George Skoblin, 78, of Cottonwood, died Aug. 24.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, he designed navigation systems for various NASA projects. He was also a singer and professional photographer.

He is survived by son Mike Skoblin and daughter Faye Andrews, both of California; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at Westcott Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. with military honors by VFW Post 7400.

A 2008 graduate of Michigan State University, Andrew Pardiac was a Larson Newspapers' copy editor and reporter from October 2013 to October 2017. After moving to Michigan, then California, Pardiac was managing editor of Sonoma West Publishers' four newspapers in Napa and Sonoma valleys until November 2019.
