Sedona Plein Air Festival to Present Three Free Paint-out Events3 min read

Experience amazing plein air painting at some of Sedona’s most beautiful locations.

Sedona Arts Center’s annual Plein Air Festival is in full swing through October 22 with dozens of artists exploring our community creating, painting, and making new art! Three Festival Paint-outs, free and open to the public, will feature 30 notable American artists—creating unique pictures live and on the spot. The public is invited to L’Auberge de Sedona, Seven Canyons Resort, and Uptown Sedona to meet world-class artists and enjoy new painting as it is being created. At the end of each Paint-out event, the artists will frame and present the works for sale on the easels they used to paint. Each event features awards provided by Gamblin Oils and Guerrilla Painter. Don’t miss these three wonderful opportunities to connect with Sedona’s growing plein air identity.

Creekside Paint Out at L’Auberge de Sedona

October 19 from 10am to Noon

The Festival’s Creekside Paint Out is hosted by L’Auberge de Sedona, and the public is invited to the edge of the water to watch artists as they depict the singular scenery and flowing Oak Creek. The location includes still and moving water, reflections, sycamores, and ducks and stunning rock waterfalls. At noon, awards will be presented to the artists and the works created at the event will be available for sale immediately following on the lawn. Attendees can park in the Arts Center lot and take the free Magic Trolley to and from L’Auberge from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

October 20 from 1pm to 4 pm

Our second Paint-out is planned for the singular setting of Seven Canyons Resort—a new Plein Air Festival sponsor. Watch artists paint the afternoon and evening light as it carves it’s way through majestic red rock profiles and an environment like no other in Sedona. A rare jewel surrounded by protected national forest land, Seven Canyons is a local scenic treasure that spans 200 stunningly beautiful acres. Plein air artists will explore panoramic vistas from the Clubhouse, water features on the golf course, and views from beautiful Rachel’s Knoll. Art sales, an awards ceremony, and wine reception will follow at 4pm on the event lawn.

Main Street Paint Out

October 22 from 10am to Noon

After the awards on Friday night, join us for the last hurrah for the 2017 Sedona Plein Air Festival! The Main Street Paint Out—held in collaboration with the Main Street Sedona Program—is one of the Arts Center’s most popular events. Don’t miss this final opportunity to mingle with world-renowned artists, view their take on local landscapes, and observe them in action on the streets of Uptown Sedona. The event will feature live painting along Highway 89A from Sedona Arts Center to Pink Jeep Cafe. Sale of Main Street Paint-out works will be held from Noon to 2pm in front of the Arts Center gallery. A free BBQ at the Plein Air Galleries in the Historic Art Barn follows.
