Submit early to get holiday releases in print2 min read

While the news never sleeps, takes a holiday or goes on vacation, those who bring it to you do.

Larson Newspapers will give its busy employees a day off to celebrate Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 24, which means we’ll be working double-time beforehand to make that possible.

As the pace in our newsroom pushes full-steam ahead, we ask the public to do its best to keep up with us.

We’ve moved our display advertising, press release and column deadlines up to make sure we get your advertisement or news item before we are ready to put the paper together.

Thanksgiving represents our longest stretch of early deadlines extending throughout an entire week and affecting nearly every person who contributes to the newspaper.

Early deadlines go into effect Thursday, Nov. 17, and affect the Wednesday, Nov. 23, editions of the Sedona Red Rock News, The Camp Verde Journal, Cottonwood Journal Extra, and the Friday, Nov. 25, edition of The Scene and the NEWS.

Our newsrooms in Sedona and Cottonwood will be closed all day Thursday, Nov. 24, and return to normal as of Nov. 25.

We will also be on early deadlines for the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Because both holidays fall on a Sunday, our newsrooms in Sedona and Cottonwood will be closed Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2.

We move to early deadlines on Thursday, Dec. 22, again on Thursday, Dec. 29, and return to normal on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

In case you are visiting family for the holidays and need to pause your newspaper delivery for a few issues, our Subscriptions Department will also observe early deadlines.

As is always true with submission, anything received after our deadlines won’t appear in the newspaper. During the holidays more than ever it’s important to get your advertisements, press releases, columns and letters to the editor in early so they have a better chance of making it into print.

If you have story suggestions, it is best to email them to us ASAP so we can assign our busy reporters and photojournalists, but just in case we’re unable to cover it, send us a detailed press release we can print for our readers. Our guidelines and an extensive list of tips can be found on our website. Click “Submit a Press Release” at the bottom of the page.

We wish you happy holidays.
