Dennis R. Rayner, 73, of Sedona, died Nov. 15.

After a career as a research scientist, he retired to Sedona in 2006, serving for two years on the Sedona City Council and volunteering at West Sedona School where he ran an after-school chess club and taught basic science.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Rayner; daughters, Lisa Rayner [Dan Frazier] of Santa Fe, N.M. and Sarah [Andrew] Velenyi of San Diego, Calif.; and brother Thomas [Mary] Rayner of Lake City, Fla.

Andrew Pardiac

A 2008 graduate of Michigan State University, Andrew Pardiac was a Larson Newspapers' copy editor and reporter from October 2013 to October 2017. After moving to Michigan, then California, Pardiac was managing editor of Sonoma West Publishers' four newspapers in Napa and Sonoma valleys until November 2019.
