The Rotary Club of Sedona Red Rocks turned 15.

The club marked the anniversary at its meeting March 15, at the Sedona Rouge.

Members reminisced while looking over scrapbooks passed around as the meeting progressed.

The club inducted two new members as it looked ahead to its next 15 years: Cindy and Tony Hauserman.

Tony had been a Rotarian before, but his work as a pilot kept him from attending enough meetings. Cindy had long been involved in her communities, but this was her first time joining.

Cindy lived off the grid in Hawaii during much of her early adulthood before meeting and marrying Tony in 1995. She has been a project manager for a homestead and is now retired.

The two have lived a well-traveled life. Tony’s job took them to the Carribean before going to Memphis. Before flying commercially for FedEx, Tony was in the backseat of an F-14 for the U.S. Navy.

The two expressed their desire to give back to the community, and now that they have more time — Tony is two years from retirement — Rotary seemed the best place to do so.

The club also honored eight members at its meeting. They received the Paul Harris fellowships for their contributions to the club. They, along with the number of fellowships they have earned total, are:

• John Bradshaw, Bill Lundy, two-time honorees.
• Allen Bradley, Roger Hocking, Dave Blauert, four-time honorees.
• Ron Draxler, Randy Sossin, five-time honorees.
• Donna Hawk, seven-time honoree.

David Simmer read a letter from the district governor of the club in honor of its 15 years. In it, he said to plan and dream about the future positive impact of the club.

This fiscal year, the club expects to give $31,000 to charities.

In addition to celebrating the club in general, the group showed solidarity with recent movements that showed the impact of women in the world by giving each woman in the club a rose.

The Rotary Club of Sedona Red Rocks meets every Wednesday at noon at the Sedona Rouge. Guests are invited to learn more about the club.
