Talented young musicians are perhaps Sedona’s best-kept secret and they will be showing off their talents at the benefit show, 2017: A Strings Odyssey, being held Wednesday, March 29, at the Sedona Performing Arts Center.
This performance will feature musical strings students of Sedona Charter School, as well as local professional musicians. More than a concert, this original one-hour, multimedia show is built around the theme that music is a catalyst for love, which is the great unifier. Last year’s Evening with Strings drew tears of emotion in much of the audience.
This year’s event features several guest performers including Suzie Schomaker, Nathan Trujillo, Kathy Perry, Tim and Renee Clayton of the band Diversity; rapper Sean Livingston McAfee, also known as ShizzySeanMack; and Ed Barattini, Andrew Schulz, and Dom Giazzon. Trujillo, Barattini, Schulz and Giazzon used to perform together as the popular band Radio Dogma.
Sedona Entertainment Alliance is providing the volunteer entertainers and is co-producing with Nichole Garrison of Take Flight Repertory Theatre Company.
The team of Trujillo, Lina Rueda and Linda Damita at TréVisio Productions is providing staging and lighting. Carlos Brando and his team at will be live streaming the show so friends and family around the world can watch it live.
Look for details on how to access the live stream connection in future announcements at sedonacharterschool.com.
Even though many schools are cutting back on the arts, Sedona Charter School believes the performing arts are essential to the development of confident, empathetic, creative and industrious youth. Moreover, it is the school’s belief that Sedona can become a pole of attraction for out-of-town students with musical inclinations, furthering Sedona’s musical arts offering. Come and mingle with your community and help support the fundraising efforts of Sedona Charter School for the construction of its new Performing Arts Classroom.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction, raffle and refreshments. The performance begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets are available at
stringsodyssey.brownpapertickets.com or at the venue at the time of the event for $5 more.
