Experience the beauty, culture and heritage of the Navajo people with Sedona Arts Center and Western National Parks Association (WNPA). Hundreds of handcrafted Navajo rugs and fine silver and turquoise jewelry will come to Sedona straight from Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site, the oldest continuously operated trading post in the Southwest.
The Hubbell Trading Post Navajo Rug and Jewelry Trunk Show will be at the Sedona Arts Center on June 2 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on June 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Explore hundreds of authentic Navajo rugs in an array of designs and prices. Fine silver and turquoise jewelry, American Indian handcrafted items, and an assortment of books and other merchandise will also be available. Weaving demonstrations will take place throughout the show, a special Hubbell Trading Post exhibit will be on display, and all visitors will have an opportunity to enter a free drawing for a special Navajo gift basket.
Refreshments will be served during the show on June 2 as part of Sedona’s First Friday Art Walk.
With special rug talks at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on June 3, Hubbell’s trader Edison Eskeets will describe the history, symbolism, artistry and production of the rugs and how to choose and care for them.
