Musical talent in Sedona is as spectacular as the red rocks themselves, with so many musicians of every style living and performing here. One such talented individual is pianist and composer David Vincent Mills, who performs regularly every Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. on the Steakhouse89 baby grand piano.

ills has performed as a piano soloist, as well as a member of many jazz, R&B and rock bands, in numerous clubs, resorts and weddings throughout California and Arizona.

He was the keyboardist for American Idol’s Kimberley Locke “One Love Tour,” during which he performed in stadiums, concerts halls, clubs and on national television, such as The Ellen Show.

In addition to teaching private lessons in piano and music theory, he also works as a composer, creating soundtracks for several special interest videos, television, jingles for radio and original songs for his independently released CDs.

Mills is a funky-jazz pianist and keyboardist, composer, recording artist and producer and an extremely versatile Sedona musician who knows how to please a crowd and keep them coming.

Amongst his many projects, Mills also leads a local trio called 3 Squares with David Mills. This dynamic trio has played together for 20 years. The group has performed throughout the world and opened for jazz luminaries such as Chick Corea and Lionel Hampton. Fusing traditional Western music with Asian, African, Indian, Eastern, European, Middle Eastern and Native American influences, the result is a seamless integration of diverse musical styles in the great jazz traditions.

Using unconventional instruments alongside traditional ones, 3 Squares produces hip, fun sounds with a toy piano, a melodica or a free-reed instrument similar to the pump organ and harmonica and modern electronics. Their range is huge, from playful rhythms to orchestral lushness.

Mills is a perfect fit for the classy, jazzy atmosphere of Steakhouse89.
