Science was celebrated recently at Sedona Charter School’s Science Fair. Students in the upper elementary and middle school displayed their science projects alongside visiting professional scientists eager to share their knowledge with first through eighth-grade students.
Ann Bates from the operating room at Verde Medical Center taught students about surgical tools and hygiene. Kelly Mott and Teri Talent, also from VVMC, taught students about the science of resuscitation. Raymond Kukulski, a nuclear medicine technologist at VVMC, shared information about medical imaging.
Kris and Diana Hackler, both pilots, taught students about the science of flight and Kelly Ferguson, an educator from Lowell Observatory, led chemical reaction demonstrations for the students.
Science education extended outside of the classroom fair too, where upper elementary students constructed their own impressive planetarium.
