Each April, during the presidentially-proclaimed National Park Week, Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments join with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, to celebrate America’s treasures.
National Park Week, which runs Saturday, April 20, through Sunday, April 28, is a time to explore amazing places, discover stories of history and culture, help out and find local parks. Parks across the country will host a variety of special programs and events.
To kick off National Park Week, all entrance fees are waived Saturday, April 20. There are also special days during the week to highlight the different ways to can enjoy national parks. The following are events at Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments:
- On Saturday, April 20, Junior Ranger Day offers youngsters the opportunity to become a Junior Ranger at any location and ear a special patch along with a badge. This day is fee free.
- Sunday, April 21, is Military and Veterans Recognition Day. Active duty military and their dependents are encouraged to visit any National Park and be issued a free military annual pass. Please bring valid ID. Permanently disabled veterans are invited to visit any National Park to be issued an Access pass. Each pass admits the cardholder and three adults. These passes are available year-round.
- On Saturday, April 27, BARK Ranger Day is an opportunity to bring furry friends to Montezuma Castle, sign the pledge and become an honorary BARK Ranger.
- Sunday, April 28, is Park Rx Day. Come to Tuzigoot National for the annual Health and Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
