The Sedona Public Library is featuring an educational Route 66 display created by Wendy Jack, a visual artist who lives in Sedona.
The display is entitled A Nostalgic Journey Along Route 66. It features a diorama designed and hand built by Jack and a map with hand painted images of Route 66 tourist attractions.
Her display has been designed to educate people about the important role that Route 66 has played in the history of travel and culture in the United States. The display offers a nostalgic glimpse in the fun filled days of Route 66. Jack hopes that people will be inspired to keep Route 66 alive in their awareness, so that Route 66 can continue to flourish in the years to come.
A visual artist with a bachelor’s degree in the visual arts, Jack has worked in a wide variety of artistic mediums. Her artworks can be found in private collections in the United States and Canada. She has worked as a scene painter for a community college in Mission Viejo, Calif. and for the Red Rock Theater in Sedona.
Presently she designs and constructs themed dioramas. Her most recent accomplishment is her Route 66 display.
The display will be showing at the Sedona Public Library through Thursday, May 9. Call 282-7714 for more information.
