Humane Society of Sedona looks for Executive Director1 min read

On April 2, the Humane Society of Sedona announced the resigna­tion of Executive Director Austin Gates. According to a press release sent by the Human Society’s Board of Directors, Gates stepped down after three years in order to return to Michigan and be closer to her aging mother.

In an email, Board President Sheila Hoffmeyer stated the nonprofit organi­zation is already looking for a replacement.

“The Humane Society began our search for a new executive director immediately following the resignation of Austin Gates,” she wrote. “Austin has also contacted profes­sionals she knows about the opportunity. The HSS Human Resources consul­tant is assisting the board in qualifying candidates, and we are/will be inter­viewing candidates.”

Hoffmeyer added that the job description was reviewed, updated and posted on the Humane Society of Sedona website, as well as on animalshel­tering.org, which is “a division of the Humane Society of the United States and the place where professionals in shelter management go to find career opportunities.”

The job opportunity, as listed on the Humane Society of Sedona website, describes the Executive Director as “responsible for overseeing the organi­zation’s consistent achieve­ment of its vision, mission and financial objectives as well as the planning, organizing and supervising all aspects of operations.”
