Snoop, a shelter dog from Phoenix, stands in front of the Humane Society of Sedona. Snoop is recovering from solar scald after being left out in the sun for too long. The Sedona City Council approved a one-year service contract with the humane society in the amount of $49,895 during its Tuesday, Aug. 8, meeting. Also approved was a new dog licensing fee, which will now be $10 for everyone. It had been eight years since the fees were last raised. Jake Green/Larson Newspapers

The Humane Society of Sedona has been selling Yavapai County dog licenses as a courtesy for several years.

Yavapai County notified HSS that they are trying to transition all of their license sales to their website.

As of Wednesday, May 1, the Humane Society of Sedona will no longer sell Yavapai County dog licenses and instead are directing dog owners living in Yavapai County, including the Village of Oak Creek, to the ycsoaz.sheltertrack.com website. Questions should be directed to Yavapai County Sheriff Animal Control at (928) 771-3282.

The Humane Society of Sedona will continue to sell city of Sedona dog licenses at the shelter campus at 2115 Shelby Drive. Questions about a city of Sedona dog license should be directed to HSS at 282-4679.

The Humane Society of Sedona is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization organized in 1966. The shelter takes in nearly 1,000 lost or unwanted animals every year and provides care and housing for them until they are adopted. The Humane Society of Sedona is a no-kill organization.
