Osher Lifelong Learning Institute’s Lunch and Learn will have as guest of honor, Dr. Lisa Rhine, new Yavapai College president, on Wednesday, May 1.

In February 2019, Rhine became the president of Yavapai College. Among her many duties are overseeing YC’s recently renovated Sedona Center, which hosts a new culinary and hospitality program, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute or OLLI community education programs, advanced placement classes for Sedona Red Rock High School students, for-credit community college courses and other educational services.

Rhine will be the guest of honor at the Sedona OLLI’s Lunch and Learn program on Wednesday, May 1, from 1 to 2 p.m., in room 34 of Yavapai College’s Sedona Center. This is an enjoyable, informal, informative community event that is free and open to all.

Meet her and learn about her background in post-secondary education, her observations regarding Yavapai College’s current operations and her intentions for the future of YC services in Sedona and the Verde Valley.

Find out how she’ll deal with the challenge of overseeing a college with multiple campuses, located far apart in varied communities. She’ll comment on YC’s role in supporting non-traditional lifelong learning offerings, particularly not-for-credit, member-run programs aimed at older community members, like OLLI.

She has served on numerous local, regional and national commissions, task forces and boards, including her current service on the Commission for Diversity, Inclusion & Equity for the American Association of Community Colleges.

Presently, she also is a member of the inaugural class of Aspen Presidential Fellows.

Come to OLLI’s Lunch and Learn, an enjoyable, informative, free weekly community event being held in room 34 of Yavapai College’s Sedona Center on Cultural Park Place, across State Route 89A from Sedona Red Rock High School.

Bring a lunch and drink at 12:30 or purchase lunch at the Sedona Center’s Sedona Café and stay to meet Dr. Rhine and hear her views regarding local higher education, ask questions and offer your viewpoints.

OLLI offers academic, not-for-credit programs for adults 50 years old or older at program sites at Verde Valley Campus, Sedona Center, and Camp Verde Library.

OLLI at Sedona/Verde Valley is a program of the Division of Lifelong Learning at Yavapai College. Spring Term started April 15 and registrations are being accepted.
