State Route 260 project receives last touches1 min read

The project to widen State Route 260 between Camp Verde and Cottonwood began in spring of 2017, two years ago. After months of work and an extended delay due to cold weather this past winter, the project is approaching its final stage.

Pavement for SR 260 has been completed for the length of the road. While the work is not quite over yet, the road now resembles closely its final incarnation.

“There is still some work to be done,” Ryan Harding, Public Information Officer for the Arizona Department of Transportation, wrote in an email. “Crews are looking to finish the seal coat of oil on the shoulders of the road weather permitting. They have been in the process of installing delineators and will begin the final striping of the roundabouts soon, again weather permitting. About 30 days after the seal coat is completed, crews will return to place final striping on the roadway.”

The road project is expected to be fully completed by mid-June. Motorists finally have the chance to drive on a 260 that has not only been widened to two full lanes in each direction, but, unlike this past winter, has fresh, smooth pavement.
