Coconino National Forest to reopen some developed recreation sites May 151 min read

Coconino National Forest has announced that several developed recreation sites in the Red Rock Ranger District near Sedona that were closed in March and April in response to COVID-19 will be reopening on Friday, May 15.

Another round of reopenings are planned for May 20. A few sites, including Fossil Creek permit areas, are not slated to reopen until the “latter half of June,” a press release stated.

The Sedona-area sites reopening May 15 are:
—Banjo Bill Picnic Site
—Bell Rock Pathway/Vista
—Bootlegger Picnic Site
—Cathedral Rock Trail
—Courthouse Butte Loop Trail/Vista
—Dry Creek Vista Trailhead and trails
—Encinoso Picnic Site
—Halfway Picnic Site
—Long Canyon Trailhead
—Mescal Trailhead and trails

The sites planned for a May 20 reopening are:
—Beaver Creek Picnic Site
—Call of the Canyon Picnic Site
—Cave Springs Campground
—Clear Creek Campground
—Crescent Moon Picnic Site
—Forked Pine Campground
—Grasshopper Point Swimming & Picnic Site
—Honanki Heritage Site
—Manzanita Campground
—Pine Flat Campground
—West Fork Trailhead and Trail

The release announcing the reopenings also included a plea for forest users to pick up after themselves, noting an increase in the amount of trash being left in Coconino National Forest.
